From Traditions to Awesome Additions...The Season on Fifth Avenue South Begins
As the Executive Director of the Fifth Avenue South Business Improvement District (BID), I often hear residents say, “I can’t believe I missed that!” lamenting that they forgot to check our calendar of events on the BID’s website. So, I decided to take a more memorable approach to help you plan your season of fun on the Avenue. You won’t want to miss these events.
Evening on Fifth
For decades, every second Thursday of the month is set aside for strolling Fifth Avenue South while listening to our traditional array of musicians from 6:30 pm to 9:30 pm. There’s always something for everyone, from pop to rock to country. So, come on down and let us entertain you while you sing along, dance, dine, shop, or stroll the Avenue with friends. The event features our platinum sponsor, Porshe Naples, and the Paradise Porsche Club, with magnificent cars displayed in Sugden Plaza and Park Street. Note that we will have two special Evening on Fifth events: Valentine’s Day on February 14 and St. Patrick’s Day on March 17.
Halloween Spooktacular
On Saturday, October 26, we will host our annual Halloween Spooktacular in Cambier Park. Children, families, and pets can dress in their spookiest or favorite character costumes. From 3:00 pm to 5:00 pm, enjoy live music, children’s activities, face painting, and more. You never know who will show up--I’ve heard Dracula himself is chomping at the bit to come! After the Spooktacular event, stay for dinner and music during a special Evening on Fifth with our live entertainment lineup on Fifth Avenue South from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm.
Thanksgiving on Fifth
Many of our restaurants will celebrate with special Thanksgiving menus on November 28. With family and friends in town, making early reservations at your favorite Fifth Avenue South restaurant is always a good idea.
City of Naples Christmas Parade
Organized by the City, the parade kicks off the Christmas season on December 3 and will once again be grand and colorful. Floats, fire engines, school bands, dance troupes, scouts, civic groups, and more bring this annual tradition to life, and not to be missed is Santa himself drawing up the rear. The parade begins at 6:30 pm on 3rd Street to Fifth Avenue South. It then turns south on 8th Street South, ending at Broad Avenue.
Christmas Walk and Tree Lighting
This year’s Christmas Walk takes place on December 6 from 5:00 pm to 10:00 pm and on December 7 from 10:00 am until 10:00 pm. The 51st Annual Tree Lighting ceremony will be held on Friday, December 6, beginning at 6:00 pm. Thousands of people from all over attend this tradition in Sugden Plaza. Residents and visitors will experience the same joy and many of the same festivities the BID has hosted in the past, including live entertainment and visits with Santa.
A twinkling 20-foot Christmas Tree, trimmed with over 10,000 LED lights, will illuminate Sugden Plaza. The First Church of the Nazarene will feature a magnificent live Nativity scene, and a half-block-long skating rink will be back on Fifth Avenue South to delight both children and adults.
For a dinner you won’t forget, make your reservations early to dine under the stars on the Avenue at your favorite Fifth Avenue South restaurant. Lastly, you will enjoy our Christmas market, featuring Fifth Avenue South and other vendors, offering baked goods, gift baskets, jewelry, artwork, and more for shoppers looking for those unique holiday gifts.
Tuba Christmas
On December 13 from 6:30–7:30 pm, visitors to Fifth Avenue South’s Sugden Plaza will be treated to a remarkable evening by more than 50 musicians of all ages from around the world, who play holiday tunes and sing-a-longs. In addition to tubas, the evening of music features sousaphones, euphoniums, and baritone horns. Most orchestras have only one tuba, so this tradition of 50 brass musicians will be a festive experience to remember.
New Year's Eve
There’s always excitement just before the fireworks in Naples, so join us for cocktails and dinner on Fifth to add a little more sparkle to your evening before we all ring in the new year. Afterward, enjoy a toast and a glass of champagne at your favorite Fifth Avenue South bar.
Nash to Naples Songwriter Fest
Gaining in popularity, the 4th Annual Nash to Naples is an exciting event on the Fifth Avenue South scene. On January 11 from 6:00 pm to 9:00 pm in Cambier Park, top songwriters from Nashville come to Naples to share their stories and play their hit songs for great causes: Hacienda of Hope and Habitat for Humanity of Collier County.
Cars on Fifth
Join us on Saturday, February 8 from 10:00 am – 4:00 pm for the 21st Annual Cars on 5th Concours, organized by the Naples Chapter of the Ferrari Club of America. As the largest annual one-day event in Naples, Cars on 5th Concours will feature more than 750 luxury vehicles.
Naples, mark your calendars and get ready for a Season to Remember. We look forward to seeing you and celebrating together on Fifth Avenue South!
