Fifth Avenue South Is The Place To Be
Whether a Naples resident, visitor, or business, it is clear that the #1 place to be and be seen is our historic main street, Fifth Avenue South. And for good reason. According to Placer.ai, a market intelligence company that specializes in location and foot traffic analytics, Fifth Avenue South is the #1 shopping and dining destination in Collier County, boasting 1.3 million visitors during the last twelve months, who made more than 3.8 million visits to the Avenue and spent an average of 132 minutes per visit. When compared to the competition, Fifth Avenue South had 300,000 more visitors than its closest competitor, and individual visitors spent between 42-62 minutes longer on the Avenue than each of its three competitors, respectively.
We are also proud to report that Fifth Avenue South has been ranked #4 as the most popular shopping and dining destination in Florida and #51 nationwide. In 2022, it ranked #5 in the state and only #134 in the country.
Indeed, there is nowhere in all of Collier County, the state of Florida, or even the rest of the United States, where you will find a more diverse variety of retail and dining offerings in a tropical destination than on Fifth Avenue South.
It’s hard to believe that more than 250 businesses and non-profits are located in a six-block square. And no matter what you’re looking for… exceptional dining, the latest in fashion, a treasured piece of art, a relaxing massage, or just a freshly roasted cup of coffee… you will no doubt find it on Fifth.

So, what is really behind these numbers? The vast majority of our members are family-owned or entrepreneurial businesses.
They want to be on Fifth Avenue because they love the environment, the opportunities, the vibe, and the economic climate, where if you deliver a superb product and exceptional service, success is within your reach. They are not large corporations, and their livelihoods depend on the support of our residents, visitors, and local government. They are a tough breed who can survive a crisis, like the pandemic or a hurricane, and come back stronger than ever.
Our businesses contribute greatly to the quality of life in Naples, our tax base, and the sheer beauty of our community. Plus, when you think about it, it’s hard to imagine you could have so much variety in one place. Fifth Avenue South is not a mall. It is so much more. It’s a way of life we have become accustomed to.
With the sale of 12 properties on Fifth last year by the Hoffman Family to M Development, a high-end developer based in Aspen, Colorado, we expect to see an expansion in retail offerings on Fifth, which should elevate the Fifth Avenue South brand even further, not just in this market but state and nationwide.
As Executive Director of the Business Improvement District (BID) for Fifth Avenue South, I am blessed to walk the Avenue almost every day and see the positive changes and the supportive atmosphere in which our businesses continue to flourish. Our dynamic Board of Directors is comprised of our property and business owners, who provide their volunteer time to ensure Fifth Avenue South continues to thrive.
According to our Board President, Chris Shucart, who will be opening our first rooftop restaurant and bar on Fifth, its success is due in part to the fact the BID focuses on business expansion, entrepreneurial encouragement, and top brand recruitment to keep our city’s economic engine humming and our visitors coming back. Plus, all of our 250+ members invest in the BID to support our signature events, beautification, and marketing activities to ensure we keep Fifth Avenue South the destination of choice to shop, dine, and play.
