SWFL dining: Truffle season kicks off with Truffletopia, White Truffle Festival

It’s truffle season, and the elusive and prized fungi are popping up on menus throughout Southwest Florida.
Caffe Toscano in south Fort Myers got its first shipment of white truffles in last week. Chef-owner Antonio Durante offers fresh shavings of the fragrant truffles over any of his dishes, or as a specialty white-truffle pasta entree for $55.
In Naples, Osteria Tulia kicked off its fourth-annual Truffletopia celebration Monday offering black and white truffles shaved over any dish, along with a special menu of truffle-infused entrees such as scallops with butternut-squash risotto and Abruzzo black truffles.
