Gulfshore Playhouse Education announces auditions for student production of “Annie”
August 12, 2021
NAPLES, Fla. (August 12, 2021) – This fall, Gulfshore Playhouse Education will present the musical “Annie.” Students aged 8-18 will have the opportunity to audition on September 7, 2021 from 5-8PM.
“Annie” follows the story of a plucky and positive orphaned girl as she attempts to find her family. During the Great Depression in New York City, Annie escapes from an orphanage run by the tyrannical Mrs. Hannigan. As she journeys through the city to find the family that abandoned her all those years ago, she finds a new home with the billionaire Oliver Warbucks. “Annie” features some of musical theater’s most beloved songs and characters.
Students who participate will receive pre-professional theater training and become a part of a professional theatrical community. Rehearsals for “Annie” will take place on Mondays and Wednesdays beginning September 20, 2021. The program will culminate with public performances on the Gulfshore Playhouse stage from December 16-18, 2021.
“Annie” is a by-audition-only program. Auditions will take place on September 7, 2021 from 5-8PM at the Norris Center at 755 8th Avenue S in Naples. Tuition for the program is $500 and need-based scholarships are available. Gulfshore Playhouse Education is committed to fostering programs that reflect the diverse population of Collier County. Students from underrepresented groups and diverse backgrounds with any experience level are encouraged to audition.
Auditionees should prepare 1) Two musical theatre selections, no longer than two minutes each, OR 2) One song selection no longer than two minutes and a one-minute monologue. Please bring sheet music in the correct key, as well as a headshot and resume if possible. Additionally, there will be a dance call so auditionees should bring or wear movement clothes and shoes.
