Fifth Avenue Coffee Company & Sixth Street Diner Open After Renovation and Name Change

NAPLES, Fla. (January 7, 2013) – Fifth Avenue Coffee Company & Sixth Street Diner, located at 599 Fifth Avenue South in Naples, is open after undergoing a complete renovation and name change.
In September 2008, Frederik and Karen Overdijking purchased what was then called, the Fifth Avenue Coffee Company. At that time, the business’ offerings included freshly-brewed coffees, cappuccinos, espressos, and teas, and homemade pastries, bagels, muffins, and croissants. Shortly after the Overdijking’s purchased the business, they began to see the need to expand the space and add to its offerings.
“Karen and I continue to be amazed by the encouragement and support that this business has received from the Naples’ community. It was almost immediate that we realized that an expansion in not only the size of the facility, but the menu, would be necessary in order to accommodate the growing needs of our customers,” said owner Frederik Overdijking.
In March 2011, the Overdijking’s purchased the building – with the help of George Sypert and Joy Arpin – that houses the Fifth Avenue Coffee Company and also acquired two adjoining businesses, adding just over 600 square feet to the existing building. Then, in April 2012, they embarked upon a complete renovation, which included knocking out walls and adding a full kitchen. Throughout the renovation, the Overdijking’s maintained the building’s1950s art-deco façade and salvaged the interior floors, which were original to the building in 1954. “We wanted to keep the Floridian-feel of the structure,” said Frederik.
The business is now called the Fifth Avenue Coffee Company & Sixth Street Diner and offers an expanded list of food options including the same delicious breakfast selections, in addition to salads, soups, sandwiches, Panini’s, wraps, hamburgers, hotdogs, fries, ice cream, milkshakes, and beer and wine. The restaurant is one of the best places to dine alfresco in Naples with over 70 outdoor seats on its picturesque wraparound patio. Indoor seating is available as well, with free wifi throughout.
