Christmas Walk & Tree Lighting Ceremony to Take Place on December 1 on 5th Avenue South

NAPLES, Fla. (November 22, 2016) – 5th Avenue South (www.FifthAvenueSouth.com) – a world-renowned shopping, dining, and entertainment destination located in Naples, Florida – is pleased to announce that it will host the 42nd annual Christmas Walk & Tree Lighting Ceremony on Thursday, December 1 from 5:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Emceed by ABC7 anchor, Krista Fogelsong, this momentous Naples’ holiday tradition will include holiday performances, the lighting of the majestic Christmas tree by Mayor Bill Barnett, and a visit from Santa himself!
It all kicks off with holiday performances on Sugden Plaza beginning at 5:00 p.m. from the ReCreation Tappers, Ave Maria Dance Academy, and the Boys and Girls Club of Collier County Choir. At 6:15 p.m., the lighting of the Christmas tree will take place and will be broadcast live on ABC7, followed by a special performance by KidzACT of the Nutcracker Goes Pop At 6:30 p.m., special headliner performances will take place all along 5th Avenue South and will include The Naples Carolers at the 800 block from 7:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.; all 80 members of the Naples Concert Band performing a full holiday concert at 8th Street South from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.; Patchouli on the 700 Block; the Salvation Army Band at the 6th Street median; Etudes de Ballet at East Lake from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.; the Celtic Spirit Dancers at the 400 block from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m.; and the Gulfview Middle School Orchestra and Chorus featuring 40 string players and 60 singers on the 300 block beside BICE from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Additionally, more than 40 partner organizations, charities and vendors along the Avenue including Shy Wolf Sanctuary; Kowiachobee Animal Preserve; and Project Hope and More!
“It is an honor for the 80-member Naples Concert Band to present its full two hour Christmas concert during this year’s Christmas Walk & Tree Lighting. We hope that the community will enjoy our music and all of the seasonal entertainment during this celebrated holiday evening,” said Harris Lanzel, conductor of the Naples Concert Band.
In addition, restaurants, shops, and businesses along 5th Avenue South and adjoining streets will be open for shopping, dining, and holiday cheer. 5th Avenue South will be blocked to traffic for this event starting at 1:00 p.m. Old Naples, Third Street South, and Crayton Cove may be accessed by traveling 9th Street and Central Avenue.
Free parking is available in the two public garages on 8th Street, in the public lots on Park Street and 8th Street South along 5th Avenue South Parkway, and in spaces surrounding Cambier Park. Valet is also available daily 5:00 p.m. to midnight.
