Chicago LGBT Hall of Fame, Aldo Castillo inducted 2005. Since his arrival in Chicago in 1985, Aldo Castillo has been a tireless charitable fund-raiser, an ardent advocate of Latin American art, and a committed human rights activist. Artist, curator, and art dealer, he is known for his promotion of contemporary art and international artists. And for his human rights activism in AIDS, LGBT rights and political organizations.
 

​“I am considered a human rights activist. The reason I founded the gallery is because art is the best tool to reflect on issues that we all deal with. I became interested in artists for a combination of their skills and their messages, global topics themes: animals, women, the environment, discrimination. These issues are worldwide, and that is what makes them international masters.”
