Today, Mayor Heitmann proclaimed September 11, 2021 as a Day of Remembrance in the City of Naples. May we humbly honor and remember those who lost their lives, who selflessly gave their lives, and all who serve our communities and nation. #NeverForget
Proclamation
WHEREAS the citizens of the City of Naples, join with our fellow Americans across the nation in honoring and remembering those who lost their lives in the horrific terrorist attacks on September 11, 2001; and
WHEREAS we continue to offer support to the families and friends who lost loved ones in the devastating events of that day, especially our firefighters, police, and first responders who continue to step forward and serve our communities with dedication and vigilance; and
WHEREAS we commend the firefighters, police, and first responders who courageously risked their lives to rescue those in need, as well as the ordinary citizens and volunteers who selflessly gave their lives to aid their friends and co-workers who were injured or trapped in the Twin Towers and Pentagon; and
WHEREAS the events of September 11, 2001, tested the strength and resolve of our country, they also reminded us of the values set out by our forefathers who saw a vision for the United States that we would live and be free of tyrannical rule, and today we are even more determined than ever that we will not give in to terrorism and threats to the safety and security of the United States; and
WHEREAS the United States is unified in our purpose to prevent further tragedies like those experienced on September 11, 2001, and we honor and respect the men and women of our Armed Forces who have fought tirelessly to keep us safe from further attacks on U.S. soil; and
WHEREAS today we remember the lives that were lost; we honor the heroic actions taken by our military and first responders and thank them for their continued service and sacrifice.
NOW, THEREFORE, I, Teresa Heitmann, by virtue of the authority vested in me as Mayor of the City of Naples, Florida, do hereby proclaim September 11, 2021, as a:

In the City of Naples and call this day to the attention of all citizens.
