Collier County Dune Vegetation Restoration Project 2021
August 5, 2021
The Collier County Coastal Zone Management Division is currently in the process to commence with a Dune Vegetation Restoration Project to replace dunes that sustained damages during 2018 Hurricane Irma. The project area will cover the span of shoreline from Doctors Pass to Lowdermilk Park. The scope of work will include native dune plantings from various plant species that are suitable and specific for the dune systems. The project will commence on Tuesday, August 10, 2021, with a scheduled completion date of October 19, 2021. The county’s vendor Cardno, Inc. anticipates minimal impacts to the public and the work will be conducted daily from Monday-Friday, between the hours of 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM.
The northern portion of the Lowdermilk Park parking lot will be utilized for the vendors staging and accessing the beach. The parking lot will remain open to the public for daily use with an isolated area set aside for the vendor’s exclusive use.
