Sidebar 505 Opens in Naples

Two longtime friends open cozy bar on side of 505 Fifth Avenue South building
Naples, FL: (February 18, 2020) . . . Longtime Naples friends Marty Kenney and David Ladic have opened Sidebar 505 on the Fifth Street side of the three-story building on the northeast corner of Fifth Avenue South and Fifth Street South, next door to Bluemercury, the national beauty products retailer and space. The building also houses two floors of residential condos above.
Kenney, a well-known local entrepreneur who grew up on Marco Island and founded local favorites like Pelican Larry’s, Joey D’s Pizzeria and Soul Bowls restaurants, says the duo selected the snug 1,500 square foot spot adjacent to Fifth Avenue South, naming their joint venture “Sidebar” because it is actually located on the side of the newly constructed 505 Fifth Avenue South building.
“Fifth Avenue South is an intimate neighborhood and our neighborhood has just gotten a little bigger,” notes Bruce Barone, Jr., executive director of the 200+ member Fifth Avenue South Business Improvement District (BID). “Whether you’re traveling the globe or just looking for a new neighborhood lounge, when you visit the new Sidebar 505 you’ll see their interior design is as strong as their cocktails,” he adds.
“An expertly crafted cocktail alone doesn’t necessarily make for a memorable evening at a bar,” says Kenney. “Standout experiences are as much about the atmosphere and meticulously designed spaces as they are about special concoctions. Our goal at Sidebar 505 is to transport visitors to a cozy, intimate environment for a moment of respite and escape,” he says.
Once you access this speakeasy-inspired cocktail den, you’ll find a dimly lit, intimate room filled with tufted leather couches, chairs and banquettes that give the space an industrial contemporary look, says Kenney. There’s ample seating at the white onyx bar and a community table, accented by cobalt blue walls, a herringbone wooden floor and unusual ceiling design.
The attention is on great cocktails in a relaxed setting. Sidebar 505 focuses on 80+ whiskeys and bourbons, locally inspired cocktails and hard-to-get wines. There is no kitchen so there’s no plan to serve food, although patrons may have food delivered from more than 20 nearby Fifth Avenue South restaurants.
