Family owned causal beach and surf apparel retailer adds fourth location
Naples, FL: (February 11, 2020) . . . Family-owned retailing group Butterfly Beach Clothing, offering casual beach and surf apparel for children, men and women, has selected Fifth Avenue South in Naples to open its fourth store today announced Bruce Barone, Jr., executive director of the Fifth Avenue South Business Improvement District.
“Fifth Avenue South is a very special place where families walk up and down the Avenue exploring the fantastic mix of retail, restaurants, art galleries and personal services,” notes Butterfly Beach Clothing owner/manager Jodi Ellis. “Our store is specifically designed for a fun experience for the entire family. We offer items for six months old to 90 years in age, ranging in price from $1 to $500, so Fifth Avenue South was the ideal choice to expand in Naples,” she adds.
Originally from Annapolis, Maryland, Ms. Ellis spent her entire professional career in retail, working for big box stores and small boutiques, overseeing both front end and back end operations, before establishing Butterfly Beach Clothing in 2010. She says she named her company Butterfly Beach Clothing to reflect new beginnings and the power of transformation.
“A butterfly symbolizes acceptance of each phase in life – change, transition, adaption and growth,” she explains. “Beautiful and graceful, butterflies lead you to the sunny side of life. And everyone deserves a little sunshine,” she adds.
“We’re not a traditional retail store,” she continues. “We’re well-known for carrying brands like Kahala, a broadcloth cotton printed in Hawaii that’s been around since the 50s, but we also carry younger, funkier Miami designers, too.”
Surf apparel includes board shorts from Billabong, Surf, Hook & Tackle as well as contemporary apparel and swimwear for girls, tweens, juniors, missy and men.
Ms. Ellis opened her first store in 2010 on Periwinkle Way in Sanibel Island. She opened a second location at the Esplanade Center on Marco Island in 2012 and a third location was launched in Ft. Myers in 2018. The fourth location in Naples is at 850 Fifth Avenue South in Naples.
“We gutted the entire 2,000 square feet in Naples down to its studs, and completely remodeled the space from floor-to-ceiling to follow island trends,” she explains. “New wood floors and an open metal ceiling give our space an industrial look. We brought in all new pine handmade fixtures, pine tables, and use barn doors on our dressing rooms. The store is well lit thanks to 57 artisan designed light fixtures throughout the store,” she adds.
Dog-friendly Butterfly Beach Clothing is located at 850 Fifth Avenue South. Open Monday – Saturday 10 am until 9 pm and Sundays 10 am – 6 pm.
