5th Avenue South Announces 2019 Board of Directors
February 28, 2019
Naples, Florida (February 28, 2019) … 5th Avenue South has announced its 2019 elected Board of Directors to oversee the advancement of the Avenue at large and make key decisions regarding the success of its nearly 250 business. All six of the 2018 board members will retain their seats, and Jarred Kaplan of Provident Jewelry will fill a seventh seat in 2019.
Jarred Kaplan is the Managing Partner of Provident Jewelry Naples and Fort Myers. Provident Jewelry Naples has been located on 5th Avenue for over 20 years. Kaplan supports numerous charities and philanthropic events working closely with the Naples Humane Society and Community School of Naples. As a graduate gemologist from the Gemological Institute of America, Kaplan is an expert in buying and selling exceptional jewelry, fine timepieces, and certified diamonds. As a 20-year veteran to the Avenue, Kaplan is well equipped to make decisions to positively benefit 5th Avenue at large.
The 2019 5th Avenue Board of Directors & Officers are Jeff Wynn (President), Christopher Shucart (Vice President), David Gordley (Treasurer), Jerrilyn Hoffmann, Nancy Macdonald and Joseph McCabe. In 2018, the 5th Avenue Board of Directors oversaw key decisions on behalf of the Avenue, such as retaining Wilson Creative Group as the marketing agency of record and spearheading new initiatives to increase traffic to 5th Avenue. A priority for the Board in 2019 is to re-establish 5th Avenue South as Naples’ historic main street, as the only place in town with dining, fashion, home design and an arts and culture component. The Naples Players was recently named the top community theatres in the country, and it’s located centrally at 701 5th Avenue South.
Given that the first business opened on the Avenue in 1923, 5th Avenue has the history, tradition and experience to be recognized as Naples’ main street, a place you can find it all. By implementing modern media campaigns like Faces on 5th and the upcoming Flavors of 5th, the Avenue’s leadership is able to catapult 5th Avenue in to the next phase of growth by highlighting its unique strengths. Faces of 5th is a monthly produced video touting the story behind one of 5th Avenue’s businesses and its owner(s). This campaign has proven to be incredibly successful, as 5th Avenue visitors are able to get an inside look at their favorite local businesses.
The Executive Director of the 5th Avenue South Business Improvement District (BID), Bruce Barone, Jr., works directly with the Board of Directors, whose mission is to brand, promote, and create awareness of 5th Avenue South as the destination of choice to live, work, shop, dine and play. “Working with industry professionals of this caliber has proven to be extremely rewarding for 5th Avenue. Our Board is responsible for approving budgets and initiatives to assist in Avenue-wide events such as the Halloween Spooktacular, Christmas Walk and Tree Lighting Ceremony, and the upcoming Cars on 5th,” says Barone, Jr.
New and innovative events, businesses and campaigns are in the wings for 5th Avenue South, and 2019 is expected to be a promising year for both the Avenue and the Naples community.
