November 19, 2018
Naples, FL (November 19, 2018) … Small Business Saturday, held annually on the Saturday after Thanksgiving, is celebrated by communities all across the United States. American Express launched the Small Business Movement in 2010 in an effort to promote shopping locally. 5thAvenue and American Express will be partnering for this year’s Small Business Saturday, held on November 24th.
Small Business Saturday’s purpose is to encourage shoppers to prioritize and support local businesses. The weekend after Thanksgiving is an optimal time to host Small Business Saturday, given its proximity to the holiday season and American Express and 5thAvenue South intend to shed some light on vendors that stick around all year round. “We are pleased to offer our 5th Avenue businesses the opportunity to gain valuable exposure through a powerful company like American Express. Local businesses are an irreplaceable part of our Avenue and we are excited to highlight them with the recognition they deserve. We are expecting a large turnout on November 24th with the wide variety of businesses and industries located on the Avenue,” adds Bruce Barone, Jr., Executive Director of the 5th Avenue South Business Improvement District.
Shopping small promotes local economies and encourages thriving communities. The Shop Local Movement has grown in the past 8 years to include over 7,200 participants in neighborhoods across the country. This year, 5th Avenue South will serve as a Neighborhood Champion, a title given to organizations who rally small businesses, distribute Shop Small merchandise, and spread the word about the cause.
