Art among us

How do we love our art festivals? Seems Southwest Florida loves them — a lot. There are some 50 hosted in Collier and Lee counties each season, stretching from Marco Island to Fort Myers.
There’s good reason for their popularity. These are places where we can meet and converse with an artist about the process, inspiration and ideas. Where we can browse works in every imaginable medium: blown and fused glass, jewelry, digital, fiber, photography, sculpture, painting, pen and ink, woodcarving. Where interior designers head to hand-select particular pieces for their clients’ bare wall or corner niche. Where we can do the same for our own home, while supporting self-employed artists and artisans and exposing our children to the varied genres and mediums that art encompasses.
