Festivals for the rest of us: Crowds throng downtown Naples for Empty Bowls and Chalk Art events
February 2, 2017
Fifth Avenue South was a hoppin,’ happenin’ street on Saturday, with not one but two popular events drawing visitors.
Both “Empty Bowls Naples” and “Chalk Art 2017” brought patrons by the thousands to Naples’ downtown area – and many of those who participated in Empty Bowls then strolled the half a block onto Fifth Avenue to view the efforts of the chalk artists. Both events were fundraisers, cumulatively bringing in well over $100,000 for charitable causes, and allowing even citizens who weren’t in a position to bid for the pricey auction lots in the Naples Winter Wine Festival a way to help their fellows while having a good time.
