Businesses Hoping “You First on Fifth” Brings the Locals

When the summer sun turns up the heat, crowds of people flock back to their northern roots, often to the pleasure of Naples residents.
As the out of town population dwindles, businesses and restaurants start offering deals hoping to draw in locals to cash in on lesser crowds and more opportunities. “You First on Fifth,” a promotion run on Fifth Avenue South, is one of those.
It’s the fourth-annual summer steal, said Lise Sundrla, Executive Director of the Fifth Avenue South Business Improvement District.
“The emphasis for the program was recognizing that during the summer months that it’s obviously slower for a number of reasons,” she said, pointing to the hotter temperatures outside as well as the departure of vacationers. “The goal initially was to thank our local residents for shopping here on Fifth Avenue South.”
