Fifth Avenue South Business Improvement District and the Greater Naples Chamber of Commerce to Promote 5th Annual Small Business Saturday
NAPLES, Fla. (November 18, 2014) – Fifth Avenue South Business Improvement District and the Greater Naples Chamber of Commerce are pleased to announce that they have joined together as community organizers to locally promote the Small Business Saturday Shop Small Campaign and that Saturday, November 29 has been declared “Small Business Saturday” in the City of Naples.
Many of the locally-owned shops, galleries, and restaurants along Naples’ own Main Street – Fifth Avenue South – will offer specials and host sidewalk sales in support of Small Business Saturday.
Started in 2010, Small Business Saturday is collaboration between American Express and the National Federation of Independent Business and is designed to boost the economy while promoting independently-owned businesses around the country. “It started from a small idea to become a growing fixture across the nation to address small businesses’ No. 1 need: more customers,” said John Kabateck, NFIB’s director in Sacramento, California. Last year, over 100 million people came out to shop at independently-owned small businesses on the day. Now, in its third year, Small Business Saturday will be even bigger. Communities all across the U.S. will take part in this important event. Fifth Avenue South Business Improvement District Executive Director, Lise Sundrla, encourages Naples’ residents and visitors to stop by Fifth Avenue South on Saturday, November 29. “If 1,000 people commit to spending just $100 worth of their holiday spending at a local, independent retailer, that’s $100,000 we generate in sales that stays in our local economy. With 25 clothing and accessory boutiques; 25 gift and jewelry boutiques; 39 restaurants, pubs, and sweets shops; and eight art galleries along Fifth Avenue South, we’re sure you will find the perfect gift for someone – or everyone – on your Christmas list,” said Sundrla.
Naples lives, works, plays, shops, and dines on Fifth Avenue South. It is the heart of Naples, the history of Naples, and the spirit of Naples, today. Fifth Avenue South is home to award-winning restaurants and cafés, world-class art galleries, chic boutiques, elegant inns and a wealth of professional businesses and services. When you’re on Fifth Avenue South, you’re home. For more information about this program or other happenings on Fifth Avenue South, please visit www.FifthAvenueSouth.com.
